7th Annual Cure for Sure Dinner

Another year has passed and the Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Inc. is making it possible to change the face of Parkinson’s disease because of generous, caring people who continue to make this journey possible. We are a small foundation. We have no frills or bells or whistles. But what we do have is a unique direction that is working. In Scientific Research, it takes only that one critical dollar to find the cure or greatly improve the quality of life for those suffering every day.
Our team of world renowned scientists and research grant recipients led by Dr. David Eidelberg of Feinstein Institute in Manhasset include: Dr. D. James Surmeier of Northwestern University, Dr. Michael Kaplitt of Weill Cornell, Dr. Rajiv Ratan of the Burke Medical Research Institute, Dr. Andrew Feigin of Feinstein Institute, Dr. Serge Przedborski of Columbia University, Dr. Clifford Saper of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Dr. David Chan of California Institute of Technology. They are on the battlefield to bring direct help for the people who need it most. Unfortunately, Parkinson’s disease affects more than 8 million people with a new case reported every nine minutes.
On June 22, 2010 we were together not only for Fr. Tom, who has worked for decades to heal us, but also the 1 billion human beings on this planet who suffer from a neurological disease, diseases that can be further understood if we can find the key to Parkinson’s.
We are optimistic, hopeful and full of promise that Parkinson’s disease will be a disease of the past. My sincere thanks to all of you. I would like to thank our Scientific Board, the Thomas Hartman Foundation Board of Directors, our Dinner Chairmen, our dedicated staff, our auction team and our tireless volunteers who make a successful night like this possible.
